Wyomissing Physical Therapy Player of the Week: Berks Catholic’s Madison Langdon

By Sean McBryan — MikeDragoSports.com correspondent

Berks Catholic junior guard Madison Langdon led the Saints to a 3-1 last week to strengthen their Berks Girls League and District 3 playoff prospects.

Langdon scored 58 points over four games to earn Wyomissing Physical Therapy Player of the Week honors. Langdon averaged a team-high 14.5 points in those four games.

She had 16 points in a crucial Berks I win over Reading High Tuesday, 21 in a win against Daniel Boone Wednesday, seven in a loss to Gov. Mifflin Friday, and 14 in a win over Twin Valley Saturday.

In addition to scoring, Langdon is the Saints’ primary ballhandler and is frequently tasked with guarding the opposing team’s top guard.

“We know we are going to get the points from her,” Berks Catholic head coach Bob Birmingham said earlier this season. “But she does so much more handling the ball and defensively.”

Langdon held Reading High’s top scorer and Yamilex Rodriguez to eight points and held Twin Valley’s leading scorer Hailey Kilgore to seven points.

The junior is fourth in the Berks Girls League with a 15.9 scoring average, trailing only Exeter senior Grace Reedy (21.0), Wyomissing junior Amaya Stewart (18.9), and Wilson sophomore Laila Jones (16.7).

Langdon’s 773 career points are sixth among active players, behind Reedy (1,342), Stewart (1,112), Oley Valley senior Morgan Snyder (996), Brandywine Heights junior Addison Benner (944), and Gov. Mifflin senior Taylor Koenig (813).

Langdon has made 34 3-pointers this season, fourth in the league behind Koenig (56), Jones (42), and Twin Valley sophomore Hailey Kilgore (37).

The Saints (8-3 Berks I, 10-10) are in position to clinch the Berks I/II runner-up position for the BCIAA tournament with a win over Conrad Weiser Monday night. Berks Catholic is currently the fifth seed in the 10-team District 3 Class 4A playoff field.

This is the second time Langdon has been selected Player of the Week and the seventh time a Berks Catholic player has been selected. Langdon was selected as a sophomore.

Among other Saints, Caraline Herb was selected once last season and once in 2021-22; Caroline Reedy was selected twice in 2021-22; Aaliyah Dabney was selected in 2021-22.

Players considered for Player of the Week honors are nominated by their coach or by members of the MikeDragoSports.com coverage team.
