Wyomissing Physical Therapy Player of the Week: Wilson’s Violet Houck

Wilson sophomore Violet Houck averaged a double-double as the Bulldogs went 3-0 last week, remained undefeated in league play, and improved their record to 13-1.
Houck earned Wyomissing Physical Therapy Player of the Week honors after having 18 points and 18 rebounds in a win over Gov. Mifflin Monday; 16 points and eight rebounds agasint Garden Spot Wednesday; and 15 points and six rebounds against Daniel Boone Thursday.
Houck averaged 16.3 points and 10.6 rebounds while also protecting the rim with efficiency on defense to help Wilson to its best start since the 2012-13 season, when it won its second straight Berks title and a District 3 crown.
“Violet is one of the best athletes I have ever coached and is truly a pleasure to be around,” Wilson head coach Chris Gallo said.
Houck averages 11.7 points per game, 12th in the league and second-highest among Berks center, trailing only Wyomissing’s Amaya Stewart.
The Bulldogs’ only loss this season was a six-point setback to undefeated Dallastown on Dec. 27; the Wildcats are currently first in the District 3 Class 6A power rankings; the Bulldogs are fifth. The top 12 teams qualify.
This is the first time Houck has been selected Player of the Week and second time a Wilson player has been selected this season. Laila Jones was selected Dec. 18.
