Oley Valley’s Morgan Snyder: Wyomissing Physical Therapy Player of the Week

By Sean McBryan — MikeDragoSports.com correspondent

Oley Valley senior Morgan Snyder scored 42 points across three victories last week as the Lynx tightened their hold on Division IV of the Berks Girls League and took another step in their quest to qualify for the BCIAA and District 3 playoffs.

Snyder earned Wyomissing Physical Therapy Player of the Week honors after scoring seven points in a win over Schuylkill Valley Tuesday, 17 points in a win over Daniel Boone Wednesday, and 18 points in a win over Kutztown Friday.

The Lynx rebounded after their first loss of the season Dec. 29 and are now 4-0 in Berks IV and 11-1 overall. Oley is currently fourth in the District 3 Class 3A power rankings; the top six qualify.

Oley Valley hasn’t won a division title in 10 years and last made the BCIAA Tournament in 2019.

The Lynx last made the district tournament in 2021 and haven’t won a game since 2015.

The 5-6 point guard, who has committed to play field hockey at Penn State, has a lot to do with that success. She’s the primary ballhandler and is averaging 14.4 points per game, sixth-highest in the league.

Snyder is second in free throws made at 63 and shoots them at the highest clip (84 percent) of all players who have made more than eight.

She sits at 823 career points and will reach the 1,000-point milestone later this season if she continues scoring at her current rate.

Snyder was selected as Player of the Week once last season; she is the only Lynx player to be selected.

Players considered for Player of the Week honors are nominated by their coach or by members of the MikeDragoSports.com coverage team.
