Wyomissing Physical Therapy Player of the Week: Reading’s Myles Grey
Wyomissing Physical Therapy Offensive Player of the Week

Myles Grey won’t win any scoring titles or reach 1,000 career points but he’ll go down as one of the greatest outside shooters in Reading High history.
He set the program record last season by hitting 10 3-pointers in a game and did something Saturday no one else has done: He opened the game by knocking down his first eight 3-point attempts. No other Red Knight has come close to doing anything like that.
“I have the ultimate faith in him,” said Reading High coach Rick Perez. “I know he’s gonna knock down whatever shots he needs to in order for us to win.”
The senior and three-year starter led Reading to a 74-43 victory over Haverford in the opening round of the PIAA Class 6A Tournament. He matched his career high with 30 points and has been named Wyomissing Physical Therapy Player of the Week.
The All-Berks guard finished 8-of-9 from 3-point range and 11-of-14 shooting overall. He didn’t miss from beyond the arc until the early minutes of the fourth quarter — and even that one almost dropped before rimming out.

“I’ve been waiting for that,” said backcourt mate Ruben Rodriguez of Grey’s shooting display. “He finally just let it loose on everyone.
“He’s been working really hard, trying to get his groove back, and I feel he’s got it back.”
Grey had been in a shooting slump during the playoffs. He’s typically the first to arrive and the last to leave Reading practices but he put even more time in last week working on his shot.
“It’s just (a matter of) getting back into the flow,” Grey said, “getting my shooter’s confidence again. I knew if I hit a few (shots in practice) I’d be good.”
Grey set the program record for 3-pointers when he made 10-of-16 against Twin Valley.
The only other player in Reading history with more than eight 3’s in a game is David Lawson, who established the program record with nine against Conrad Weiser in the 2006-07 season. Grey also hit seven in a game last season. He owns three of Reading’s top six 3-point shooting games.
Grey is averaging 13.5 points, third on the team, and has 43 3-pointers, also third. He’s shooting a team-best 75.3 percent from the foul line.
His 116 career 3’s are fifth-most in program history, behind Lonnie Walker IV (157), Jordan Burdine (147), Wesley Butler (131) and Rodriguez (126). He has 817 career points.
Grey is known more for his defense and 3-point shooting but when needed he can carry the load offensively. Twice this season with his team trailing and Rodriguez struggling to find his shot Grey stepped up to carry the load.
He did it against Devon Prep, scoring a game-high 28 points as Reading High rallied for a 58-50 win against their Philadelphia Catholic League foe. He also did it against Cardinal O’Hara, when he scored 20 in a comeback victory.
“He fills in wherever he needs to for the team,” said Perez. “He brings the ball up, gets everybody set up, leads us in assists. He’s the general. When you prepare for this moment (as he does), when you come to work every day (it’s not a surprise to see).”
Grey was also named Wyomissing Phyical Therapy Player of the Week after his big game against Devon Prep in December. He is Reading High’s sixth selection this season, following Yadiel Cruz and Rodriguez, who has been selected three times.
