Rodriguez broke a record set over 100 years ago by Buck Friedman, who scored 48 points in a win over Tamaqua in the 1918-19 season. Friedman had 24 field goals and no free throws in that 91-13 win.

The modern-day scoring record was set by Donyell Marshall, who had 43 points in an 87-73 win over Williamsport in 1990-91.

The 111 points matched the most ever scored in a game by Reading. The Red Knights beat Exeter 111-50 in 1990-91. They scored 110 points against Daniel Boone in 2016-17.

One night earlier, Myles Grey set a program record with 10 3-pointers in an 85-31 win over Twin Valley.

Rodriguez, a first-team All-State pick as a sophomore, scored 21 points in the first quarter and 20 in the second. He had nine points in the third quarter and did not play in the fourth. He played 18 minutes in the game.

The Berks I-leading Red Knights (7-0, 13-2) led 35-6 after one quarter and 72-23 at the half.

Rodriguez now has 984 career points. He can reach the 1,000-point scoring milestone Friday against Vertical Academy. The Red Knights play Archbishop Wood Saturday at the Geigle.

Reading is now 49-1 all-time against Boone. The Blazers’ lone win in the series came in the 2012-2013, 60-59 at Birdsboro.

The 68-point margin of victory is fifth-highest in program history.
