Reading Holiday Tournament postponed by one day

Opening night for the Reading Holiday Tournament has been pushed back to Tuesday, due to potential for inclement weather Monday.

The Red Knights will play Pocono Mountain West Tuesday in the second game of a doubleheader. Devon Prep and Parkland meet in the opening game, at 6.

The championship game will be played Wednesday night, at 7:30.

The Red Knights are off to a 5-0 start but have not playedd since beating Wilson 64-36 last Tuesday. Their game against Lower Merion Thursday was postponed, due to COVID issues at Lower Merion.

The 2020 Reading Holiday Tournament was canceled due to COVID issues; the Red Knights didn’t play their first game last season until Jan. 9.

The Red Knights won the 2019 tournament, beating Downingtown East 50-39 in the championship game. That was their first tournament title in three years. They lost to Norristown in the 2018 championship game and to Dunbar (Md.) in 2017.

Reading has won the championshi 27 times in the 46 times the tournament has been held since 1974. Reading beat Easton 59-48 in the inaugural tournament championship.
