Wesley Butler earns weekly PSAC honors

Wesley Butler has always played excelled on both ends of the court.

Monday the Kutztown University junior was recognized for the defensive side as he was named PSAC East Division Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Butler, a Reading High grad, had six rebounds and two steals in addition to scoring 25 points in the Golden Bears’ 81-79 win over Bowie State on Wednesday.

It was Kutztown’s fourth win in five games.

Butler scored 18 of his 25 points in the second half, including 10 of Kutztown’s final 12 points over the final three minutes.

Butler is averaging 19.3 points, tied for fifth-highest in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.

Kutztown (4-4) plays again Saturday at Slippery Rock and Sunday at Edinboro.
