Wyomissing stuns Berks III champ Fleetwood
Wyomissing held Fleetwood to one fourth-quarter field goal and to nearly half its scoring average in pulling off the biggest upset of the season, beating the Berks III champs 35-34 in the league finale for both Tuesday at Wyomissing.
The Tigers (10-1, 20-2) were limited to 12 field goals and were held below 40 points for the first time since the 2020-21 season.

Alex Campbell scored 10 points, eight in the second half, to lead the Spartans (5-6, 8-13).
Wyomissing trailed 17-14 at the half and 28-26 after three quarters before outscoring Fleetwood 9-6 in the final period.
The Tigers saw their seven-game winning streak snapped. Their only other loss came to Manheim Central, the top-ranked team in the District 3 Class 5A power ratings.
Jake Karnish and Aiden Soumas each scored 11 points for Fleetwood. They accounted for eight of the Tigers’ 12 field goals. Karnish is the league’s top scorer; he entered averaging 22.8 points.
The Tigers entered the game averaging 64.1 points, second-highest in the league behind Reading High, which is averaging 71.6 points. They had been held below 50 points just once this season, in a 48-31 win over Wyomissing on Jan. 10. Karnish scored 24 points in that game.
The Spartans went to the foul line just five times Tuesday but hit all of their shots; the Tigers made 7-of-12 free throws.
Drew Forrey and Danny Fleischood each scored eight points for the Spartans, who had lost six of their previous seven games.
Wyomissing closes out its regular season Thursday at Trinity. It entered play Tuesday at No. 14 in the District 3 Class 4A power ratings; the top 10 qualify for the tournament.
Fleetwood has completed its regular season. It will play next in the Berks Conference quarterfinals Monday, opponent and site to be determined.
