Twin Valley girls lose district finale, finish sixth

Junior Mia Libby scored a game-high 24 points as Greencastle-Antrim defeated Twin Valley 45-29 Friday in a District 3 Class 5A girls basketball game to determine fifth place.

The third-seeded Blue Devils (20-4) led just 21-18 at the half before and Libby and Haley Noblit combined for 20 second-half points. The eighth-seeded Raiders (16-10) were led by Natali Foster, who scored 11 points.

Twin Valley enters PIAA Tournament play Wednesday as the No. 6 seed out of District 3 and will play at the home of the District 2 champion.

The Raiders will be one of three Berks Girls League teams to play in the state tournament.

Berks Catholic, which meets Delone Catholic Saturday at 2:30 at Giant Center for the Class 4A championship, will enter as either the No. 1 or No. 2 seed. The Saints will get a home game on Wednesday. If they win Saturday they open against the No. 6 team from District 7; if they lose they open the third-place team from District 2.

Brandywine Heights opens state play in Class 3A Tuesday as the No. 3 team out of District 3 and will play on the home court of the District 12 champ.
