PIAA Basketball Championship Central: Scores, schedules, brackets, past results (complete results)
The PIAA basketball championships will be played over three days at Giant Center, with four games each on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Of the 12 boys finalists, each is a district champion, with four from District 12 (Philadelphia), four from the WPIAL (District 7) and three from District 3.
Reading High has the most wins, with 31, and enters with a 22-game winning streak.
Philadelphia powerhouses Roman Catholic, Imhotep and Neumann-Goretti are back to defend their titles in the three largest classifications. None of last year’s runners-up have returned.
The Cedar Cliff girls are the only undefeated team. The Archbishop Wood girls, who won Class 4A last year, are in the 5A final. Wood is the only defending girls champion to return to Giant Center.
The Lansdale Catholic girls, who lost in the 3A title game last year, have returned to the final. The Kennedy Catholic girls, who lost last year in the 1A championship, will play for the 2A championship.
