Muhlenberg slams Warwick, heads to fifth-place game

Xzavion Robertson scored 16 points and Kyle Archie had a career-high 15 as ninth-seeded Muhlenberg beat fifth-seeded Warwick 67-45 in a District 3 Class 5A seeding game at Lititz Monday.

The Muhls (16-10) head to the fifth-place game Wednesday at Milton Hershey, a 65-40 winner over Lampeter-Strasburg.

Muhlenberg had already clinched a berth in the PIAA Tournament. It will enter the state tournament as the No. 5 or 6 seed out of District 3.

Robertson scored 10 points in the second quarter as the Muhls zipped to a 38-22 halftime lead. They were up 55-37 after three quarters.

Archie went 7-for-7 from the foul line and the Muhls made 23-of-29 overall; the Warriors had just nine free throws and missed six of them.

Caleb Johnson scored 15 points before fouling out for Warwick (17-9). Trevor Evans, who averages 11 points per game, did not score.

Jay’Daniel Mosquera scored 12 points for the Muhls and made 6-of-7 free throws.

Milton Hershey is the No. 6 seed. It lost at Exeter 80-58 in the quarterfinals.

Second-seeded Lampeter-Strasburg will face Warwick Wednesday in the seventh-place game. Both teams have qualified for the state tournament.

Muhlenberg will open the state tournament March 10.
