Nearly a month after a one-sided loss at Hamburg, Matt Kramer and Wyomissing turned the tables on the Hawks Friday night, topping them 6-0 at Owls Field to turn the Berks Baseball League Division III race into a four-car pileup.
Kramer, who started and took the loss in the Spartans’ 7-0 loss at Hamburg, went 6 1/3 innings and struck out nine to earn the win. He also had a single and scored two runs.
Shortstop Dom Colon reached base four times, had three hits and drove in a pair of runs for the defending champion Spartans (6-3, 8-6), who are now a half-game out of first place.
The Hawks (7-3, 11-4) are tied for first (but percentage points behind) Berks Catholic (6-2, 11-5); Oley Valley (6-3, 8-6), a 6-0 winner over Kutztown Friday, is tied with Wyomissing, also a half game out of the lead.
Wyomissing has won five straight games over the last eight days to scramble back into the division race.
