Klitsch, Feliciano among five Berks picks for East-West Big School team

Logan Klitsch and Aanjay Feliciano will connect on the football field one more time after each was selected Thursday to play in the PSFCA East-West Big School All-Star Game.

The Conrad Weiser quarterback and wide receiver are among five Berks players selected to play for the East squad May 29 at Bishop McDevitt’s Rocco Ortenzio.

Also selected were Kyle Helm and Ty Yocum of Exeter and Nate Millard of Daniel Boone. All five were All-State selections on the Pennsylvania Sportswriters Class 4A or 5A teams.

The Big School game, which features players from Class 4A, 5A and 6A schools, will kick at noon.

The Small School game, which features players from Class 1A, 2A and 3A schools, will kick off at 5.

Last year was the first time the Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association split the annual All-Star game into a Big School/Small School format.

Klitsch and Feliciano formed a record-setting pass-combination with the Scouts.

Klitsch, who will play at Dartmouth, was named Berks Football League Section 2 Offensive Back of the Year after throwing for 2,405 yards and 24 touchdowns in 12 games. He was the All-Berks quarterback after completing 65.4 percent of his passes and compiling a 174.6 passing efficiency rating, tops in Berks.

Klitsch set program records with 5,177 career passing yards and 51 TDs. He threw for 409 yards in his final game. He also rushed for 691 yards and scored 20 TDs, a Berks record for quarterbacks.

Feliciano was the beneficiary of many of those tosses. He was named Berks County Receiver of the Year after leading the league with 64 catches, 1,202 yards and 15 TD receptions, all program records. He averaged 18.8 per catch.

He finished his career with 107 catches for 2,055 yards and 23 TDs. He will play at Stetson University.

The 6-2, 315-pound Helm was a huge presence in middle of an Exeter offensive line that was the key to the team’s District 3 championship run.

He earned a 94 percent blocking grade, the highest in 30 years of tracking such things at the school. The All-Berks center paved way for Eric Nangle to rush for program-record 1,814 yards.

Yocum was Linebacker of the Year in Berks and in Section 1 of the Berks Football League. He had a team-leading 105 tackles, three interceptions, two forced fumbles, two blocked punts and five quarterback hurries for District 3 champs. He also started at H-back and scored 14 TDs on 69 carries and 16 receptions. He will play at Merrimack College.

Millard, listed as the placekicker on the East roster, was an All-Berks punter and all-league placekicker. He hit 4-of-7 field goals, with long of 46. He was good on 23-of-25 PATs and recorded 19 touchbacks in 10 games. He averaged 44.3 yards on punts. He will play at Kutztown University.

Jim Chapman of Bartram High will be head coach of the 36-player roster.

Judd Novak of Manheim Central is the other quarterback listed on the East roster. Other players from District 3 schools include: Running back Kamil Foster of Bishop McDevitt, offensive lineman Kyle Yeager of Central Dauphin, linebacker Luke Williams of Elco, cornerback Justin Cook of Harrisburg and cornerback Tyrell Ford of C.D. East.

Earlier it was announced that six Wyomissing players were selected for the Small School game: Nevin Carter, Julian DiMaio, Rory Filoon, Tommy Grabowski, Ja-Mhi Jackson and Amory Thompson.
