Jake Karnish reaches another scoring milestone for Fleetwood Tigers
Jake Karnish wasted little time moving up Fleetwood’s all-time scoring chart this season.

Less than three weeks after scoring his 1,000th career point, the senior forward became the Tigers’ all-time scoring leader Monday with 23 points in a 61-27 win over Brandywine Heights.
Karnish finished the game with 1,202 points, one more than the record set by Dave Angstadt in 1983.
Angstadt was on hand Monday night in Mertztown to congratulate Karnish.
Karnish, an All-Berks pick as a junior, finished last season with 838 career points. He averaged 17.2 points per game.
He is averaging a league-leading 24.3 points this season.
“Jake understands the importance of each possession and knows how to motivate himself and the team,” Tigers coach Terry Sitler said earlier this season. “He is keeping our team focused on our task at hand – one day at a time.”
The Tigers are off to a 14-1 start and in first place in Division III of the Berks Conference with a 6-0 record.
Karnish topped Angstadt’s record with a pair of free throws in the final quarter Monday. He was good on 8-of-10 shots from the foul line.
Aiden Soumas had 13 poionts and Nate Herb 11 for the Tigers. The Bullets (2-5, 7-8) were held to their second-lowest scoring total of the season. They lost to Fleetwood 65-26 in the opening round of the Tiger Classic Dec. 28.
One night later Karnish scored 14 first-quarter points in Fleetwood’s 62-29 win over Upper Perkiomen and topped the 1,000-point milestone.
Karnish was the first at Fleetwood player in at least 40 years to earn All-Berks honors.
