It’s too cold to say ‘Play ball!’ today

The Berks Catholic Saints spent last week in Myrtle Beach, S.C., taking advantage of a little southern hospitality, and warmer temperatures, to prepare for their baseball season.

Monday, the Saints and the rest of the baseball teams around the Berks League were greeted with the harsh reality of spring in the Northeast. With temperatures not expected to climb above freezing, and with the wind chills in the teens, all 10 baseball Berks games scheduled for Monday were postponed.

And to think, the temperature reached 70 degrees in Berks County just a few days ago.

Everyone’s back at it Tuesday, when it’ll be sunny and the temperature could reach . . . 40?
