It’s BC against Wilson again in Ron Krick Memorial championship game

It’ll be Josiah Jordan and Berks Catholic vs. Wilson for the second straight year in the Ron Krick Memorial Summer League championship game Thursday at West Reading.

Jordan, an All-Berks guard and rising senior, scored a game-high 19 points as Berks Packing defeated Gin Mill Restaurant 45-36 in the first semifinal Wednesday.

Marrella Financial, with a roster of Wilson Bulldogs, had its way against Dulin’s Tire & Service, beating the Exeter team 44-26 in the second semifinal.

Berks Packing will meet Marrella Financial for the title at 5:25; the All-Star Game follows.

Berks Packing won last year’s game, 62-52; the game was played indoors due to a thunderstorm.

Berks Packing trailed Gin Mill, from Cedar Crest, by five points after one period Wednesday before opening the second quarter with an 8-1 run to take the lead for good. One night after scoring 24 points Jordan led the way again with his open-court steals and drives to the basket.

Madyx Gruber contests Teddy Snyder’s jumper Wednesday in the Ron Krick Memorial semifinals.

Jaxon Geddio, a rising senior at BC, scored seven points and worked well on the boards and on defense. The Saints also got a lift from rising senior Kevin Lawlor and rising junior Parker Nein, reserves last year who could move into coach Snip Esterly’s starting lineup next season. Rising seniors Ryan Koch and Jack Miller combined to score 11 points for Berks Packing.

J’veon Reyes-Vega led Gin Mill with 14 points.

Marrella Financial had little trouble against Dulin’s, holding the Eagles to one basket in the first quarter and 13 points through three.

Rising Wilson sophomore Madyx Gruber knocked down a pair of 3-pointers in the first quarter as Marrella went up 14-3. Gruber finished with eight points. Rising Wilson senior Ofure Odiale scored a team-high 10 points and effectively battled Exeter center Anthony Caccese on the boards and on defense. Cleveland Harding Jr. had seven points for Marrella.

Teddy Snyder, a rising senior at Exeter, led Dulin’s with a game-high 13 points.

Berks Packing’s Josiah Jordan gets free under the basket against Gin Mill in Wednesday’s semifinal.
