Halifax, in Class 1A, and Bethel Park, in Class 5A, will each go for a second straight PIAA baseball championship when the state tournament concludes Thursday and Friday at Penn State with title games in six classifications.
Halifax, the District 3 runner-up, plays District 9 champ Dubois Central; it defeated Eden Christian 9-8 last year.
Bethel Park, the District 7 third-place finisher, plays District 4 champ Selinsgrove.
Halifax is one of three District 3 teams still alive. Warwick, the Class 6A champ, plays District 11 champ Liberty. Lancaster Catholic, the Class 3A champ, meets District 6 champ Central of Martinsburg.
Central, at 26-0, is the lone unbeaten team in the field.
Oley Valley reached the Class 3A championship game last season but lost to Tyrone 5-0.
Conrad Weiser is the last Berks League team to win a PIAA baseball title; it beat Hershey 6-2 in 2010 for the Class AAA championship.
Boyertown is the last Berks team to win a PIAA baseball championship; it beat Plum 4-1 for the Class AAAA title in 2016.
Eight district champs are among the 12 finalists in the six classes. Bethel Park is the only team that did not reach its district championship game.
All games will be played at Penn State’s Lubrano Park.
