Former Gov. Mifflin basketball coach Kyle Conrad will be honored before the Mustangs’ home opener Monday night against Cedar Crest.
Conrad, 39, died in September following a long battle with cancer.

Conrad was a 1,000-point scorer for the Mustangs, and later at Elizabethtown College. He returned to coach at his alma mater as an assistant and was named head coach for the 2018-19 season.
He continued to coach over the last three seasons while undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
“I thought he was a warrior for doing what he did,” said Mason Woolwine, a senior forward last season.
The Mustangs players will honor his memory this season by wearing a “KC” insignia on their sneakers this season.

Gov. Mifflin fans have purchased a memorial T-shirt, with Conrad’s Gov. Mifflin number, 24, on the back and “Mifflin Basketball” on the front. Mustangs players will wear those during pregame warm-ups.
Dave Argentati, the Director of Student Services at Gov. Mifflin and the Mustangs head coach when Conrad played, will speak during the ceremony before tonight’s game.
“Kyle was a complete athlete, a complete person,” Argentati said during an October “Celebration of Life” ceremony for Conrad.
Conrad was a three-sport athlete at Mifflin, playing soccer and baseball along with basketball.
Conrad’s sons, Carson and Logan, are expected to lead the Mustangs out onto the floor tonight for warm-ups.
Brian Wrobel, an assistant coach on Conrad’s staff, is the Mustangs head coach. Seniors Gerrell and Delsin McNeil are the top returning starters from a Mifflin team finished 11-11 last season.
Conrad was first diagnosed with esophageal cancer in March 2019, shortly after his first season as Mustangs head coach ended. He went through three rounds of chemotherapy and radiation.
