Berks Catholic’s Madison Langdon scored a game-high 18 points and held Bishop McDevitt’s leading scorer to two points in leading the Saints to a 52-28 win in the District 3 Class 4A quarterfinals.
The sophomore earns Utilities Employees Credit Union Player of the Week for the first time.
Langdon boosted her season average to 11.4 points, second on the team. Her defense and ballhandling alongside senior Caraline Herb have been pivotal to the Saints’ success. That was even more evident Friday.
The Saints (19-6) rebounded from an upset loss to Reading High in the Berks Girls League semifinals and also secured the victory without their third-leading scorer and tallest player in Sydney Corado, who was out with an illness.

Langdon hit all eight of her foul shots and held McDevitt leading scorer Sophia Formica, who came in averaging 13 points, to a lone bucket in the third quarter.
By that point, the Saints had already built a double-digit lead. They led 43-24 at the end of the third en route to the 24-point victory.
The win also clinched a state tournament berth for second-seeded Berks Catholic, which will host No. 3 Wyomissing at Wolf Gymnasium in a district semifinal Monday.
Langdon is the second Berks Catholic selection for Utilities Employees Credit Union Player of the Week honors. Caraline Herb was selected in December.
Players considered for Player of the Week honors are nominated by their coach or by members of the MikeDragoSports.com coverage team.
