Berks Catholic’s Caraline Herb is UECU Player of the Week

By Sean McBryan — MikeDragoSports.com correspondent

Berks Catholic senior Caraline Herb has been a flamethrower from 3-point range throughout her high school career.

She hit 40 as a freshman and led Berks as a sophomore and junior with 60 and 49, respectively.

Herb isn’t slowing down this season.

The senior guard has hit 20 3’s through seven games for the Saints, who are off to a 3-0 start in Berks I and 5-2 overall.

Herb scored 22 points and hit five 3’s in a 54-27 win over Muhlenberg and had 16 points and three 3’s in a 56-44 win over Reading High last week to earn Utilities Employees Credit Union Player of the Week.

Herb leads the Saints in scoring at 14.3 points per game, good for fifth in Berks (among players who have played in at least half of their team’s games). She needs 196 points to reach 1,000 for her career.

Defensively she’s frequently tasked with guarding the opponent’s best player. No player scored in double digits against the Saints in their two wins last week.

The Saints, led by Herb’s two-way play, are ranked No. 3 in Berks in scoring and No. 3 in scoring defense. Herb and the Saints aim to keep the strong start going at the Wildwood Boardwalk Classic Tuesday and Wednesday.
