Teammate Donovan Burke, a left-hander from Leesburg, Va., was named Pitcher of the Week in the league and also received Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week.

Dabney, a redshirt junior, went 8-for-12 with 10 runs scored, a double, three home runs and nine RBI’s to help the Dukes go 4-0 for the week, including a three-game weekend sweep of Fairleigh Dickinson.

Dabney also drew four walks and was struck by a pitch four times. He reached base in 16-of-19 plate appearances.

Dabney tied his career high in runs scored on Friday, scoring four times; he also tied his career high in hits with three. A day later he went 3-for-3 with two runs scored. He capped off the week by recording his first career multi-home run game, hitting a solo shot and a grand slam, and collecting a career-high six RBI’s to lead the Dukes to a 15-5 win on Sunday.

Burke had a dominant showing on Saturday as he took a perfect game into the seventh inning. He went a career-high seven innings in his second start of the season and struck out a career-high 13. It was the most strikeouts thrown by a JMU or Colonial Athletic Association pitcher since Kevin Kelly had 13 at Towson in 2019.
