Berks Catholic’s season ended Monday night in a 52-49 loss to Eastern York in a District 3 Class 4A playback game at Wolf Gymnasium.
The fifth-seeded Saints (12-13) were bidding for one of District 3’s six berths in the upcoming PIAA Tournament. They had reached the state tournament in each of the last four seasons.
The eighth-seeded Golden Knights (14-11) clinched a spot and will face No. 6 Trinity, a 53-41 victor over No. 7 Middletown, in the fifth-place game Wednesday.
All-Berks junior guard Madison Langdon had 25 points and five 3’s for the Saints, who led 25-23 at halftime.
Clarion commit Arianna Seitz had 24 for the Golden Knights, who tied it 35-35 heading to the final quarter.
Langdon had 10 of the Saints’ 14 points in the final quarter but Eastern York got balanced scoring from four players and held on for the victory.
The Saints, who finished second to Wilson in Division I of the Berks Girls League, lost their District 3 opener to No. 4 Bishop McDevitt 66-43 on Thursday.
