Caraline Herb scored a season-high 26 points as second-seeded Berks Catholic beat fourth-seeded Eastern York 49-39 Thursday at Wolf Gymnasium in the District 3 Class 4A Tournament third-place game.
The Saints (20-7) will open state tournament play Saturday, March 11, against the District 12 runner-up. The Saints lost their state opener a year ago 39-37 to Lake Lehman.
They are one of just two Berks Girls League teams, along with league champ Wyomissing, to make the state tournament.
Herb, a senior and All-Berks pick, had 12 first-half points as Berks Catholic moved out in front 25-20 at the half. It extended its lead to 34-26 going into the final period.
Molly McFadden had 10 points, six in the first period, helping Berks Catholic open a 15-4 lead.
Ariana Seitz scored 17 points to lead Eastern (17-8).
The Saints were good on 14-of-17 free throws; Herb made 6-of-6.
Berks Catholic lost to eventual district champ Wyomissing 24-23 Monday in a semifinal. The Saints opened the tournament with a 52-28 win over Bishop McDevitt.
