Berks Catholic’s Rick Keeley retired with 280 wins over 38 seasons, at Holy Name, Hamburg and Berks Catholic.

He ranked No. 7 among active coaches in Pennsylvania and is No. 4 all-time among District 3 coaches, behind only Wyomissing’s Bob Wolfrum (360), Manheim Central’s Mike Williams (348) and Tim Rimpfel (307), who coached at Trinity, Bishop McDevitt and Cumberland Valley.

The Saints’ win over Hamburg made Keeley the 27th football coach in state history to win 280 games.

2

Twin Valley’s Drew Engle (1,436) and Evan Johnson (1,089) have combined for 2,525 rushing yards this season, third-most in Berks history by teammates in the same season.

Gov. Mifflin’s Wilson Fontanez and Jan Johnson hold the record with 2,831 yards, in 2014. Conrad Weiser’s D.J. Robinson and Codie Butler combined for 2,607 yards in 2009.

3

Wyomissing has never lost a postseason game at what is now Bob Wolfrum Field.

The Spartans are 13-0 in District 3 play, 1-0 in PIAA Tournament play and 2-0 in Eastern Conference play.

Overall, the Spartans have won 32 consecutive home games, dating back to 2018 playoff win over Littlestown.

4

Manheim Central, which plays at Twin Valley tonight in a District 3 Class 4A semifinal, has won a record 18 District 3 championships, one more than Steel-High and two more than Bishop McDevitt.

Steel-High won its 17th Class A championship two weeks ago, beating Halifax.

McDevitt is unbeaten, the No. 1 seed in Class 4A, and plays Lampeter-Strasburg tonight in a semifinal.

5

Junior quarterback Evan Myers became Twin Valley’s all-time passing leader last week and has thrown for 4,017 in three seasons as a starter. He set the Raiders’ single-season passing mark as a freshman, with 1,498 yards. He needs 184 yards this season to top that.
