Watch List ’23: The best of Berks football

Over the past two weeks MikeDragoSports.com has revealed the 2023 “Starting Lineup,” a list of the top 11 football players in Berks County.
Now it’s time to present the “Watch List,” which includes more than five dozen top players from Berks’ 14 Lancaster-Lebanon League members.
The “Watch List” includes eight players from Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 4 favorite Wyomissing, eight from Exeter and eight from Wilson. Twin Valley, the Section 2 favorite, has six selections.
All 14 programs are represented on the 66-player list.
The list includes 33 seniors, including Section 5 Offensive Lineman of the Year Tyler Hallock of Kutztown, all-league first-team center Logan Kurzweg of Wilson, all-league first-team wide receiver Ethan Brower of Wyomissing, and a pair of all-league first-team picks from Hamburg, wide receiver Cohen Correll and center Bryce Kamp.
There are 27 juniors on the list, among them quarterbacks Donovan Gingrich of Conrad Weiser and Evan Myers of Twin Valley and the Raiders’ Evan Johnson, who set a program record with 17 TDs last season.
There five sophomores, including Twin Valley’s Drew Engle, who earned all-league honors last season as both a defensive back and kick returner, and Wyomissing’s Chase Eisenhower, who worked his way into the starting lineup late last season for the District 3 Class 3A champs.
The only freshman on the list is Justice Hardy of Wyomissing, who could see time as a receiver, defensive back or kick returner.
Like the “Starting Lineup,” the “Watch List” was selected by MikeDragoSports.com, with input from Berks high school coaches.
Players were selected based on past performance, expected contributions this season and college potential. Two-way players were given special consideration.
