Oley Valley’s season ends with loss to Camp Hill

Camp Hill’s move up in classification didn’t seem to affect it Thursday.

The top-seeded Lions, who won the District 3 Class 2A championship last season, eliminated fourth-seeded Oley Valley 8-2 in a Class 3A semifinal at Camp Hill.

The Berks III champion Lynx (14-9) were limited to six hits and scored fewer than three runs for just the fourth time this season.

The Lions (17-3-1) advance to meet third-seeded Trinity, a 9-2 winner Thursday over Annville-Cleona. They’ll play Tuesday at a site and time to be announced.

Oley Valley was eliminated in the same round last season, 10-6 by Trinity.

All-Berks pick Paul Petersen, a junior, went 3-for-3 and scored a run for Oley Valley. He also walked once.

Freshman Chase Kegerise took the loss, allowing seven hits and six runs, five earned, over five innings. He walked two and struck out one.

The Lynx committed four errors.

Camp Hill reached the last four District 3 Class 2A championship games, winning two of them.

Oley Valley ended the regular season with five straight wins before falling to Wilson and Matt VanOstenbridge 6-0 in the Berks quarterfinals. Oley opened district play with an 8-2 win over Brandywine Heights.
