Cam Burr had three hits and Dalton Follweiler pitched a complete game as visiting Muhlenberg defeated Lampeter-Strasburg 8-3 Thursday in a District 3 Class 5A playback game.
The eighth-seeded Muhls (15-9) advanced to a state qualifier Tuesday against Shippensburg, which stayed alive with a 10-1 win over Exeter 10-1.
The Muhls will play the 14th-seeded Greyhounds at 6 at Gochnauer Field in Laureldale. The winner will head to the PIAA Tournament as District 3’s fifth seed; the loser will be eliminated.
Burr, a junior and two-time All-Berks pick, went 3-for-3, scored twice and stole two bases.
Follweiler, a senior and All-Berks pick, allowed 10 hits and three runs, two earned, over seven innings. He improved his record to 7-1with a 1.27 ERA over a team-leading 55 innings.
Follweiler struck out five and did not walk a batter, finishing the game in an efficient 88 pitches.
Sean Patton went 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored for Muhlenberg.
The Muhls scored twice in the first, went ahead 4-0 in the third, 6-1 in the fourth and 8-2 in the fifth.
The Muhls had 10 hits, drew five walks and took advantage of five errors.
The fifth-seeded Pioneers (17-9) lost in the quarterfinals to fourth-seeded Greencastle-Antrim 2-1 in 10 innings.

Muhlenberg was knocked into the playback bracket with a 10-0 loss to top-seeded Lower Dauphin.
Muhlenberg last qualified for the state tournament in 2021, when it finished third in the district tournament.
Lampeter-Strasburg finished second in Section 2 of the Lancaster-Lebanon League behind Ephrata.
Exeter (12-10), which knocked off second-seeded Gov. Mifflin in the opening round, ends the season with two straight losses after falling at Warwick 2-1 in eight innings Monday.
