10 Questions with Exeter’s Teddy Snyder, presented by the Weeber/Langdon Team of Merrill Lynch

MikeDragoSports.com goes one-on-one with a Berks basketball player to find out what’s on his or her mind — on the court and off.

Teddy Snyder, Exeter

Senior guard

Q: To be the Flight 1 Berks County champ in tennis, as you were last spring, it takes year-round practice time and travel to tournaments. How do you balance that with basketball, which also requires a lot of offseason practice?

I try to play both as much as possible. I play most of my tennis tournaments in the summertime and work on developing my tennis and basketball game the rest of the year. I don’t play any tennis during basketball season.

Q: Who’s your favorite comic book super-hero?

Spider-Man, because he is such a relatable character before and after he gains his powers. I also think it is cool how he has a ‘Spidey Sense’ that warns of incoming danger.

Q: Your father, Ted, coached basketball at Kutztown and Owen J. Roberts. How has he helped you develop your game?

He has helped a lot with the way I approach the game and also with my fundamentals and skills of the game.

Q: You can have dinner with any three historical figures. Who are you inviting?

I would invite LeBron James, Novak Djocovic, and George Washington.

Q: Tennis and basketball are completely different: One’s an individual sport, one requires teamwork. Is there much overlap in your approach to the two?

I approach both with a similar mindset. In both basketball and tennis I try to play with a chip on my shoulder. The teamwork in basketball is similar to the teamwork when playing doubles in tennis. I like the team aspect of basketball and pulling together for a win. But I also enjoy playing singles in tennis, because you are out there battling the other guy by yourself.

Q: Which basketball teammate would you least like to go against one-on-one?

They are all tough. It is close, but I would pick Kevin (Saenz).

Q: What’s the one TV show that you watch regularly that might surprise people?

I watch “Stranger Things.” I like the characters and how it has suspense but is also funny.

Q: You’re a good student with a 4.0 GPA. What’s the most challenging class you’ve taken at Exeter?

Physics. I did well because I had a great teacher, Mr. (Will) Lasky.

Q: If you could be recruited for basketball by any colleges in the country, which would be at the top of the list?

I would have to say Duke, Villanova, Notre Dame, and North Carolina. I would want to play at the highest level and on a good team.

Q: If you could use a “lifeline” during a critical moment of a close game, who would you call for help or advice?

I would call my Grandpa (Oscar Snyder). He always gave me great advice growing up in sports and life. He was always a huge supporter and always answered any of my big questions and would drive me to tennis tournaments and AAU games.
