Fleetwood junior Aiden Soumas is Wyomissing PT Player of the Week
Wyomissing Physical Therapy Offensive Player of the Week

Aiden Soumas has become a match-up nightmare for Fleetwood opponents. The junior guard increased his strength over the offseason and has become as effective playing inside and taking the ball to the basket as he is on the perimeter.
“He’s become a workout animal,” said Tigers coach Terry Sitler. “He’s in the (weight room) at 5 every morning. For a small guy, he’s got some pretty good post moves. He can go underneath and post somebody up or he can hit the 3, so he’s difficult to defend.”
Soumas was pretty difficult to defend last week when he scored 50 points over back-to-back games and led the Tigers to three straight wins, including a division-clincher Friday against Schuylkill Valley.

Soumas averaged 19.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.3 assists over the three games to earn Wyomissing Physical Therapy Player of the Week honors. He shot 66 percent from the field, including 75 percent from two-point range.
He had a career-high 26 points in the 78-63 win over Schuylkill Valley that locked up the Tigers’ second straight Berks Conference Division III title.
The 6-foot, 190-pound Soumas was an all-division pick as a sophomore, when he averaged 10.0 points. He’s increased his all-around game since.
He’s averaging 14.3 points per game this season and is shooting 70.8 percent from the foul line. He’s been a consistent offensive threat, reaching double figures in 18 of 20 games.
He’s also been a key figure on defense.
“He guards the best player, no matter who it is,” Sitler said. “If it’s a point guard, we put Aiden on him. If it’s a team that has a big inside, like a 4 or a 3, we put Aiden on him. He’s been a catalyst on defense.”
The Tigers have won six straight to reach 19-1; they are in two wins away from completing the best regular season in program history.
Soumas is also one of the top baseball players in the Berks League. He played center field and led the Tigers last season in batting, hits and RBIs and was an all-division selection. He played for the Berks County Bulls in the summer and fall.
Soumas is the second Fleetwood player to earn Wyomissing Phyical Therapy Player of the Week honors this season; Jake Karnish was selected twice.
