Fleetwood’s Jake Karnish capped a big week by being named Most Valuable Player at the Tiger Classic as the round-robin tournament concluded Thursday.
Karnish scored 22 points in a 62-29 win over Upper Perkiomen Tuesday and 19 points in a 65-26 win over Brandywine Heights Wednesday.
The senior wing was joined on the all-tournament team by teammates Aiden Soumas, Nate Herb and Kevin Williams.
Owen Williams of Upper Perkiomen and Noah Walakovitz of Brandywine Heights were also named to the all-tournament team.
Walakovitz scored 18 points Thursday in the Bullets’ 57-43 win over Upper Perkiomen.
Earlier in the week Karnish became the fifth Fleetwood player to top the 1,000-point career scoring mark. He heads into Tuesday’s game against Berks IV preseason favorite Oley Valley with 1,037 career points. He is averaging a league-leading 24.9 points per game.
There were just three teams in the tournament after one of the original teams dropped out, so there was no championship game. Fleetwood was declared champion by winning both its games.
