Utilities Employees Credit Union Player of the Week

Oley Valley junior Morgan Snyder was selected all-league in field hockey and is committed to play that sport at Penn State.
Turns out she’s pretty good at basketball, too.
Snyder has been named Utilities Employees Credit Union Player of the Week for the first time after hitting three 3’s and scoring 19 points in a 45-41 overtime setback to Annville-Cleona last week. She scored 23 points Friday and went toe-to-toe with Kansas State commit Alexis Hess, who had 26 in the Lynx’s 54-41 victory over the Tigers.
“Morgan’s leadership and drive to excel are incredible,” Oley Valley head coach Kerry Snyder said. “She is extremely coachable and has a work ethic that is second to none. Her play this week highlights how well-rounded she is as a player.”

Snyder is currently fourth in Berks scoring at 18.4 points per game and has the Lynx out to a 4-1 start, including an impressive 13-point league victory over Fleetwood Friday.
Oley Valley, bolstered by Snyder’s strong play on both ends, is scoring the second-most points per game (48.2) and allowing the second-fewest (33.4) in the Berks League.
The Lynx are looking to secure a winning season for the first time since 2019.
The 5-7 junior made 19-of-22 foul shots in the win as she adapted her game to get to the basket more; she has made 44 of her 55 foul shots, good for an 80 percent clip.
She’s also adept at getting teammates involved as she totaled seven assists across the two games.
Snyder doesn’t take a breather on the defensive side of the ball. She forced multiple five-second violations and had a cumulative 12 steals across the two games.
She’ll be three quarters of the way to the 1,000-point threshold by the end of this season and have a chance to reach that mark during her senior year if her scoring output continues at this pace.
Snyder and the Lynx aim to keep the hot start going when they face Brandywine Heights in a Berks IV showdown Monday.
