Norchester, Boyertown reach final day of Berks Senior Legion tournament

David Levengood pitched a three-hitter as Norchester remained unbeaten in the Berks Senior Legion Tournament, eliminating West Lawn 1-0 Saturday at Owls Field.

Boyertown, which advanced to the final day earlier with an 11-1 win over Reading, will need to beat Norchester twice Sunday at Owls Field to win the championship. Norchester needs one win to claim its second straight championship. They meet Sunday at 1. A second game will start 40 minutes after the completion of the first, if needed.

Norchester beat Boyertown 5-1 on Friday.

The Bulldogs scored the only run of the game in the sixth when Gavin Cinkowski, who had reached on a one-out single, scored from third on a wild pitch. Cinkowski moved up on an infield single by Kyle O’Connor and a bunt single by Aaron Kirby.

Levengood walked just one and struck out four.

West Lawn’s Christo Hunsicker took a two-hit shutout into the sixth. He struck out six and didn’t walk a batter.

Boyertown 11, Reading 1:

Boyertown scored seven times over the first two innings and rolled over Reading in five innings Saturday afternoon in a Berks Senior Legion elimination game at Owls Field.

The Bears stayed alive to play Sunday against the winner of Saturday’s 4 o’clock game between Norchester and West Lawn. Reading was eliminated.

Peyton Moser, Cole Kratz and Steven Colucci each had two hits for the Bears; Evan Hetrick scored three times. The Bears had nine hits and stole eight bases.

Colin Eisenhard and Randy Wynings combined on a three-hitter for Boyertown. Eisenhard opened with two scoreless innings.
