Berks Catholic girls basketball coach Bob Birmingham and record-setting Charlie Copp of Tulpehocken are among eight inductees for the 15th class of the Berks County Basketball Hall of Fame, which will be recognized Friday night.
Birmingham, Lisa Auman and Donna Werner Trexler were selected by the 3 Point Goal organization.
Copp, Bill Kline, Joe Linderman, Don Sechler and Dick Sherry were selected by the Reading Berks Basketball Association.
They will be honored at halftime of the BCIAA girls basketball championship game Friday at Santander Arena; the game starts at 6.
Kline and Sechler are being inducted in the old-timers category (1972 and prior); Copp and Linderman are being inducted in the modern-day players category (after 1972); Sherry enters in the coach/official/contributor category.
Lisa Auman
Auman led Daniel Boone to a 94-0 regular season record and, as a senior in 1989-90, to the Berks title, the District 3 final and the PIAA semifinals. She scored 1,285 points, was a two-time All-Berks selection and won the Catherine Rhodes Award as Berks’ top senior. She went on to be a two-year starter at LaSalle University. She later coached at Exeter and Daniel Boone and is a member of the Daniel Boone Sports Hall of Fame.

Bob Birmingham
Birmingham has won a Berks-record 615 games in 33 seasons at Holy Name and Berks Catholic. His teams have won five Berks championships and four District 3 championships. He led Holy Name to the PIAA championship game in 1993 and Berks Catholic to the state title game in 2018. He is a member of the Holy Name and Berks Catholic athletic halls of fame and the Berks County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame.

Charlie Copp
Copp was a three-time Berks Player of the Year and a four-time All-Berks pick. He knocked down a county record 308 3-pointers for Tulpehocken from 1996-2000 and scored 2,440 points, second all-time in Berks. He played at the University of Pennsylvania and started at guard as a senior. He won two Ivy League championships with the Quakers. He is currently an assistant coach at Emory University.
Bill Kline
Kline scored 1,073 points at Mount Penn and, as a senior in 1967-68, led the Mounts to the program’s first of three PIAA championships. He an All-State pick and received the Jack Flowers Award as Berks’ top senior. He went on to play at Wyoming and is a member of the Mount Penn Sports Hall of Fame.

Joe Linderman
Linderman was a two-time Berks Player of the Year and the state’s Small School Player of the Year as a senior in 1996. He scored 1,304 points and led the Cardinals to two District 3 championships and a Berks title. He earned the Dr. Richard Kleppinger and Jack Flowers Awards as the county’s top senior. He was America East Rookie of the Year at Drexel and a three-time all-conference pick, finishing with 1,840 points. He was a head coach at Fleetwood and has been an assistant at Central Catholic, Exeter and Alvernia University.
Don Sechler
Sechler led Kutztown to three Berks championships and scored 1,110 points. He earned the Jack Flowers Award as the top senior in 1967. He went on to play at Delaware Valley, setting program records with 1,784 points and 1,357 rebounds. He was drafted by the Portland Trailblazers in 1971 and coached at Kutztown and with the Kutztown Youth Basketball program. He is a member of the Kutztown and Delaware Valley University Sports Halls of Fame.
Dick Sherry
Sherry won 369 games at West Reading and Wyomissing, fifth-most in Berks history, and took the Cowboys to the PIAA Class C championship in 1961. His teams won three Berks championships and two District 3 championships at Wyomissing. He played at Schuylkill Haven, was a three-year starter at Muhlenberg College and later played with the semi-pro Schuylkill Haven Black Knights.
Donna Werner Trexler
Werner Trexler scored 1,704 points at Fleetwood and led the county in scoring as a senior in 1979-80. She set school records with 37 points in a game and 28 rebounds in a game. She also has program records fo points and rebounds (1,255). She played at Delaware, scoring 1,088 points and grabbing 873 rebounds. She was team MVP and an all-conference pick as a senior. She is a member of the Fleetwood Sports Hall of Fame.
