Gov. Mifflin grad Bubba Peters reaches milestone with Widener

Bubba Peters is a 1,000-point scorer once again.

Five years after hitting the milestone at Gov. Mifflin Peter did it for Widener University Monday night, hitting a 3-pointer late in the second half in the Pride’s 82-73 win at Messiah.

Peter is playing his fifth season with the Pride and is a graduate student majoring in mechanical engineering.

He became the 28th player in program history to score 1,000 points.

At Mifflin he became the program’s eighth 1,000-point scorer and finished with 1,047 points, fifth-most in program history. No one has done it since Peters in 2017.

The 6-2 guard played 34 minutes Monday, hitting 4-of-10 shots from the field and 5-for-5 from the foul line. He scored 15 points and had four assists.

For the season he is third on the team in scoring at 11.3 points, second with 35 assists and tops with with 24 steals. He has started all 15 games and is averaging 34.2 minutes, second on the team.

Peters was an All-MAC Commonwealth second-team pick as a junior in 2019-20 when he started all 27 games and averaged 12.9 points per game.

As a senior at Mifflin he averaged 17.9 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists.
