Donovon Jack to be inducted into Berks Catholic Hall of Fame

Donovon Jack, a three-time All-State pick who played on district championship teams at both Central Catholic and Berks Catholic, will be inducted into the Berks Catholic Hall of Fame Friday before the Saints’ game against Twin Valley.

Jack graduated in 2012 after scoring 1,725 points, ranked 10th all-time in Berks at the time. He went on to play four seasons at Penn State and has played professional basketball in the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany and Poland in the years since.

He was a first-team All-State pick and the Berks Player of the Year as both a junior and senior. He spent his first three seasons at Central Catholic and his senior year at Berks Catholic, after Central closed.

Jack led the Saints to a 28-3 record and Berks Conference and District 3 Class 4A championships in their inaugural season, 2010-11. He averaged 17.0 points, 10.1 rebounds and 2.5 blocked shots. His scoring total was the highest ever by a player at a Reading school before Lonnie Walker IV eclipsed it.

The 6-9 Jack led the Cardinals to District 3 Class 3A championships as a sophomore and junior. They reached the PIAA Class A championship game his junior season, 2009-10, before falling to Sewickley Academy.

He was a captain as a senior at Penn State, where he played in 117 games, with 44 He averaged 5.2 points and 2.9 points as senior, and finished No. 6 on all-time blocked shots list with 100.
