Goodman, Zdimal, Sands highlight Berks boys basketball honor roll

MikeDragoSports.com presents an honor roll of the top Berks boys basketball players each week. Coaches are encouraged to nominate their top player for consideration. One player will be selected Player of the Week.

Hector Tiburcio, Antietam: The 6-2 senior wing had 16 points, 11 rebounds, two blocks and two assists in a 41-29 win over Schuylkill Valley and 23 points, 12 boards, four assists and two steals in a loss to Lancaster Mennonite.

Aidan Sands, Berks Catholic: The 6-3 senior forward led his team in scoring in each of its wins, with 17 points in a 49-46 victory over Pottsville and 17 in a 49-45 win over Conrad Weiser.

Chris Gauby, Brandywine Heights: The 6-1 senior averaged 10 points and hit six 3-pointers over three games for the Bullets.

Colin Payne, Exeter: The 6-1 senior wing scored 24 points in a 59-51 win over Elizabethtown, going 10-for-10 from foul line. Overall, he scored 67 points over four games.

Jake Karnish, Fleetwood: The 6-2 junior guard scored 22 points in a 71-18 win over Daniel Boone and 18 against Hamburg in a 46-38 win as the Tigers remained unbeaten.

Xavier Goodman, Kutztown: The 6-foot senior guard had 22 points, hitting 14-of-16 free throws, in a 62-46 win over Lehighton. He had 20 points in a loss toPottsgrove and 12 in a loss to Brandywine Heights.

Edwin Suarez, Muhlenberg: The 6-6 senior center had 12 points in a 59-51 win over Easton and 10 in an 80-26 win over Daniel Boone.

Danny Turchi, Oley Valley:The 6-2 senior had 17 points in a win over Saucon Valley and 21 in a win over Conestoga Christian.

Daniel Alcantara, Reading High: The 6-4 senior wing scored a career-high 28 points, hitting 11-of-18 shots, in a 52-32 win over LaSalle College. He helped the Red Knights go 3-0, with 12 points in a win over McCaskey and 12 points against Exeter.

David Bednarczyk, Tulpehocken: The 6-1 junior scored a career-high 38 points in a 78-50 win over Hamburg and 25 points in a 62-51 Berks IV opener against Oley Valley.

Kannon Zdimal, Twin Valley: The junior forward scored 17 points and had six rebounds in the Raiders’ only game, a 52-45 win over Oley Valley.

Cleveland Harding, Wilson: The 5-9 junior guard scored a team-high 19 points in 54-52 loss to Mifflin and had eight points in a 52-35 win over Lancaster Catholic.
