Central York wins Class 6A championship; complete PIAA scoreboard

Five defending champs have made their way back to Hershey for the PIAA basketball championships this week at Giant Center.
There’s even one rematch: Imani Christian and Berlin Brothersvalley in boys Class A. Imani won last season.
The other returning boys champs are Imhotep Charter in 5A and Lincoln Park in 4A. Imhotep beat Exeter last year. Aliquippa returns in 2A after losing last year’s title game to Lancaster Mennonite.
Two girls defending champs return: Archbishop Wood in Class 5A and Kennedy Catholic in 2A. Also, the Blackhawk girls, the runner-up last year in 4A, return after ending Wyomissing’s perfect season Tuesday in the semifinals.
The boys field includes eight district championship. The lowest district finisher is Central York, which ended up fifth in District 3 Class 6A. Central stopped Reading High from a return trip to the finals with a 79-65 win Tuesday.
Only one other state finalist finished lower than second in its respective district tournament: The Archbishop Carroll boys, who were third in District 12 4A.
District 7 has advanced the most boys teams (four), with Franklin Regional in 5A, Lincoln Park in 4A, Aliquippa in 2A and Imani Christian in 1A.
The girls field also includes eight district champions and three teams from Disrict 6: West-Mont Hilltop in 3A, Marion Center in 2A and Bishop Guilfoyle in 1A. Lancaster Catholic is the only girls team from District 3.
Just one team from District 1 reached the finals: Spring-Ford, the girls runner-up in Class 6A. No District 1 boys teams made it.
