FREDERICKSBURG — After Wyomissing’s dominant 42-0 shutout Friday night at Northern Lebanon, one would think the Spartans would feel nothing but satisfaction.
| Final | |
| Wyomissing | 42 |
| N. Lebanon | 0 |
Junior running back Justice Hardy said the Spartans (4-0) are on the right track but there is room for improvement.
”We’ve still got a lot to clean up,” Hardy said. “But we flew around and we had a lot of fun today. Even when the younger guys were in, they did what they had to do.”
Hardy, Chase Eisenhower, Zander Westwood, Wayne Reason and Ethan Nye all had rushing touchdowns. Brady Eisenhower added a passing touchdown to Danny Fleischood.
That’s six touchdowns by seven different players.
Wyomissing had two 40-plus yard touchdowns in a row in the first quarter while Northern Lebanon (1-3) struggled to get its offense going.
On the defensive side of the ball, Wyomissing held the Vikings to just 94 total yards. It added a fumble recovery when the Vikings were in the red zone late in the game.
Hardy’s 34-yard juking, hurdling touchdown put the Spartans ahead by four scores and in firm control of the game while still in the first quarter. Though they turned in an honorable effort the rest of the game, that run seemed to demoralize the Northern Lebanon defense.
The Wyomissing offensive line was outstanding. The Spartans had 345 yards rushing with different players accounting for each of their 43-, 42-, 34-, 7- and 38-yard rushing touchdowns.
“We got a couple guys out (with injuries), but that’s no excuse,” Hardy said about the Wyomissing offensive line. “A bunch of the young guys came in and stepped up today really well. We got 42 points today, so that’s real good for them.”
The Spartans outgained Northern Lebanon by 261 total yards.
Wyomissing returns home next Saturday to take on Elco at 1:30 p.m. Northern Lebanon visits Donegal Friday.
