LAMPETER — Last year Wyomissing and Lampeter-Strasburg, rivals in Section 4 of the Lancaster-Lebanon League, met twice. Lampeter-Strasburg won both showdowns on its way to an appearance in the PIAA championship game.

With last year in mind, the Spartans kept their receipts and returned the favor this time around.
In dominating fashion, the Spartans made the trip to Lancaster County on Friday night and beat the Pioneers handily on both sides of the ball on the way to a 46-7 win in the teams’ regular season wrapup.
The win means the Spartans (6-1, 9-1) will retain the No. 4 seed in the upcoming District 3 Class 4A Tournament and open at home against the No. 5 seed, expected to be the Pioneers (5-2, 7-3). Had Lampeter won, it would have claimed home-field advantage. Brackets will be announced Sunday.
Spartans coach Bob Wolfrum said it was a complete effort by his team, and that it was one of the most well-rounded games he has coached.
“The biggest thing is that they only scored seven points,” Wolfrum said. “As well as our offense played, our defense was lights-out.”
Not to take the spotlight away from the defense, it was a dominant run game that buried the Pioneers from the start. Wyomissing showcased its offensive depth from the opening snap, led by running back Justice Hardy, who scored two of the team’s seven touchdowns. Hardy recorded his 12th and 13th rushing touchdowns.
The Spartans rushed for 489 yards, with Hardy, Danny Fleischood and Dominic Arguelles each topping 100 yards.
Wolfrum gave credit to the entire offensive unit for stepping up and creating space, allowing the Spartans to generate the long runs that they had.
“I thought our (offensive) line did a great job,” Wolfrum said. “Our running backs did well too. You have to get involved, especially against these guys. Their defense is always good and the fact that we were able to move the ball like that on them was impressive.”
Running back Chase Eisenhower was the other Spartan to record multiple rushing touchdowns, notching two. Fleischood, Marcus Armistead, and Arguelles also added scores .
Securing a first-round bye, the Spartans will await their next opponent in the District 3 Class 4A playoffs on Nov. 7. Wolfrum said anything goes for their next game.
“I told (the players) that we don’t know what we’re doing next, except that we’re playing at home which is nice.”
