The roster is now complete; it’s time to kick the ball off and start the season.

Mike Drago’s 11th annual “Starting Lineup,” featured on MikeDragoSports.com over the past two weeks, is stocked with a full cast of sleek running backs, college-level linemen, hard-hitting linebackers, and swift defensive backs.

They all get going Friday when the regular season kicks off.

The 13-player “Starting Lineup,” selected based on projected performance this season and college potential, includes three players from last year’s list: Drew Engle of Twin Valley and Drew Eisenhower and Justice Hardy, both of Wyomissing.

Two players, Wilson’s Michael Glover and Hardy – both juniors – already have Division I offers. Engle is the only pick with a Division I commitment: He’ll be playing lacrosse at the U.S. Army Academy.

There’s one other junior on the list: Twin Valley linebacker Lucas Myers.

Wyomissing and Twin Valley, both again well-stocked to battle it out in Section 4 of the Lancaster-Lebanon League, each have three selections on the team. Exeter and Wilson each have two; Gov. Mifflin, Muhlenberg, and Schuylkill Valley have one apiece. In all, seven of Berks’ 14 football programs are represented.

There are just two quarterbacks on the list: Exeter’s Riley Martinez and Gov. Mifflin’s Lebron Leaf, who moves into that role for the first time this season.

There is just one tight end, Glover, and two offensive linemen: Exeter center Joel Ummarino and Twin Valley guard Greyson Miller. Glover, Ummarino, and Miller are also defensive linemen.

Almost everyone in the “Starting Lineup” is a two-way standout, such as Wyomissing fullback/linebacker Chase Eisenhower and Schuylkill Valley running back/linebacker Logan Cammauf.

Three players follow brothers onto the team. Eisenhower’s brother Drew was selected in 2022. Myers’ brother Evan was picked for the team last year. Tyler Niedrowski’s brother Evan was picked in 2021.

Drew Eisenhower, left, and with brother Chase in 2022.

Muhlenberg’s Cameron Small, Wilson’s Chase Herb, and the others join an exclusive club.

The first “Starting Lineup,” in 2015, included Exeter’s Michal Menet and Berks Catholic’s Issac Lutz – each of whom went on to play at Penn State.

Berks Catholic’s Brandon George and Wyomissing’s Max Hurleman were each picked for the squad. Both are currently in NFL training camps, George with the Kansas City Chiefs, Hurleman with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Boyertown’s Jerry Kapp, also picked for the prestigious team, spent time in training camp with the New York Jets in 2023.

Past picks Nick Singleton of Gov. Mifflin, Jven Williams and Caleb Brewer of Wyomissing, and Joey Schlaffer of Exeter are currently playing for Penn State.

Last year’s “Starting Lineup” included Logan Wegman of Exeter and Aris Drake of Twin Valley, each of whom is playing for the U.S. Naval Academy; two-time All-State pick Jayden Zandier, who’s playing at West Chester; and Evan Myers, who’s playing at nationally ranked Kutztown University.

With the “Starting Lineup” now complete MikeDragoSports.com will present the “Berks Watch List,” which includes more than 60 other top players to watch this season.
