QUARRYVILLE — There is a new all-time leading rusher in Solanco football history.

His name is Johnny Garcia and he completed his ascension to the top of the list Friday night with an electrifying performance in the Mules’ 62-20 win over visiting Conrad Weiser in Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 3 play.

The senior needed 286 yards on the ground to break the record and he accomplished that and more in the first half alone when he rushed for 310 yards on 15 carries and scored on touchdown runs of 56, 64, 10 and 77 yards.

Garcia only had one carry in the second half and finished with 319 yards.

“He did a great job,” Solanco coach Tony Cox said of Garcia. “He saw the holes really well and the offensive line did a great job opening things up for him.”

Conrad Weiser got a pair of first-half touchdowns receptions, by Evan Erdman-Sapna and Joseph DePrince, but trailed 41-13 at intermission.

“We played lights-out football in that first half,” said Garcia. “Our offense was rolling.”

Weiser’s other score came late in the game on a 17-yard run from Cole Kupper.

The Scouts finished with 15 first downs and 332 total yards.

The loss was the second straight for the Scouts (1-2, 4-2), who went through Section 3 unbeaten last season.

The Mules (2-1, 5-1) took the opening kick and set the tone by marching 69 yards on six plays, ending with a 13-yard TD run by Kris Burgos-Wise.

Solanco rushed for 400 yards in the opening half and 518 for the game. The Mules scored a touchdown the first eight times they had the ball and also added a 29-yard interception return for a TD from Wes Bard.

Burgos-Wise rushed for 73 yards on three carries while scoring a pair of touchdowns. Prior to the game he was named Homecoming King.

Solanco heads to Manheim next Friday night to take on the Barons. Weiser returns home to play Garden Spot.
