LITITZ — Despite what he thought, Warwick’s Heath Schnipke had one good run left in him.

After carrying 27 times, Schnipke said he thought his Friday night was over as he watched his team run out the clock on what became a 20-0 Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 3 victory over defending section champion Conrad Weiser.

But Schnipke was sent back in the game for one more rush, a 36-yard TD that capped the win for Warwick (4-1, 7-1) and sealed the fourth straight loss for Conrad Weiser (1-4, 4-4).

Schnipke finished with 28 carries for 172 yards and a pair of second-half touchdowns as Warwick dominated the second half after a scoreless first 24 minutes.

The Warwick defense was dominant, limiting the Scouts to 82 yards and eight first downs. The Warriors defense had three sacks, three interceptions – including one returned 7 yards for a touchdown by Michael Pluta – and allowed only one play of more than 10 yards.

Conrad Weiser’s only scoring threat came in the second quarter when it reached the Warwick 13, where Bode Madara intercepted a pass to end the drive.

Conrad Weiser’s defense was strong in the first half as well, never allowing Warwick past the Scouts 35-yard line. But in the third quarter, the Warriors put together an eight-play, 60-yard drive that featured all runs by Schnipke. Schnipke scored from 8 yards out with 4:34 left in the quarter to break the scoreless deadlock.

The victory solidified the playoff hopes for the Warriors, who started the night No. 4 in the District 3 5A rankings.

Star of the game

Warwick running back Heath Schnipke rushed for 172 yards and two touchdowns and caught a pass for 15 yards, the Warriors’ longest pass play of the game.
