Week 2: Fearless Friday Football Forecast (updated, with results)

After a rugged debut week the “Fearless Friday Football Forecast” is back and better than ever. Well, hopefully.

MikeDragoSports.com staff writers and photographers, along with Jeff Reinhart of football partner LNP/Lancasteronline, are picking all the Berks games each week this season, plus other Lancaster-Lebanon League games.

We’ll keep standings and the Forecaster with the most points at the end of the season will get a big prize! Each correct pick earns one point; if the Forecaster “doubles down” and is correct, he earns two points.

Week 1 was a tough one for the Fearless Forecasters; fewer than half were above .500. We went down together, though: Everyone picked Berks Catholic and Gov. Mifflin to win, and no one had faith in Muhlenberg. We went 0-for-13 as a staff on each of those picks.

Then again, everyone had Wyomissing, Exeter, and Fleetwood winning, and each did.

The big favorite this week is Hamburg: Every Forecaster has selected the Hawks and six have “doubled down” on them. Berks Catholic and Wyomissing are also unanimous picks. Exeter is picked to win by 12 of 13 Forecasters.

The toughest pick of the week looks like Daniel Boone at Conestoga Valley. The Blazers are expected to be without starting quarterback Dean Rotter, who was knocked out of last week’s game with an injury. The staff goes with the Blazers by a slim 7-6 margin. The staff is also split on the chances for Gov. Mifflin and Twin Valley.

Remember: Each Fearless Forecaster can only “down double” on a team once during the regular season (and once during the postseason).

Have fun with the picks and remember: No wagering, please.
