ATGLEN — Coming off a dominant victory in Week 4 against Elco, Twin Valley continued its early season momentum with an impressive 49-7 win Friday night at Octorara in Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 4 play.

Twin Valley (2-0, 5-0), which entered Week 5 as the league’s top-ranked offense, opened the first quarter on a 48-yard touchdown run from senior Evan Johnson.

Later in the quarter, the Raiders’ special teams unit blocked an Octorara (1-1, 3-2) punt attempt deep inside Braves territory.

Raiders quarterback Evan Myers capitalized on the miscue through the air, completing a 13-yard TD pass to sophomore Joey Buckley to make it 14-0.

The Twin Valley defense, which entered this matchup yielding the fewest yards in the league, cranked up the pressure on the next drive and forced Braves passer Collin Wood to lob an errant throw that was intercepted by Johnson.

Myers then connected with Buckley on another TD strike of 6 yards to close out the first and extend the Raiders lead to 21-0.

Not to be outdone, Johnson sprinted 46 yards on his second scoring scamper, putting Twin Valley up 27-0 midway through the second quarter.

Evan Myers completed two consecutive passes to his brother Lucas, on a 54-yard TD strike and the ensuing two-point conversation, to enter halftime up 35-0.

Evan Myers (8-of-13 for 125 yards and 3 TDs with an interception) left the game in the third quarter 44 yards shy of the 5,000-yard career passing yards.

He has an opportunity next week to become one of five passers in Berks County history to surpass that 5,000-yard milestone, potentially joining an elite list topped by former Penn State and NFL quarterback Chad Henne of Wilson — currently Berks’ all-time passing leader.

Up next, Twin Valley will visit Northern Lebanon Friday, while Octorara hosts Lampeter-Strasburg.
