2024 Berks football coverage
presented by UECU

When it comes to the history of Twin Valley football there is a clear dividing point:
There are the 26 mostly struggling seasons before Brett Myers arrived as head coach in 2022 — and the three-plus years since, when the program has been completely transformed.
Like most start-up football programs Twin Valley had trouble getting off the ground. It won just one game in its first season, 1996, and had back-to-back winless seasons in 1999 and 2000.
It’s been a whole different story lately. In 2023 the Raiders set a program record with 10 wins — they had never before won more than seven — and earned a championship for the first time in 16 years, sharing the Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 3 title with Ephrata and Garden Spot. Along the way they earned a spot in the state Top 10 rankings for the first time.
Last year they opened with seven straight wins and ascended to No. 1 in the Class 4A state rankings — an incredible achievement for a program that had made its first appearance in the district playoffs only three years prior.

The Raiders finished 9-3 last year, their lone losses coming to state-ranked Wyomissing and Lampeter-Strasburg (twice).
Quarterback Evan Myers, the oldest son of Brett Myers, helped lead the program’s turnaround. He started every game of his four seasons and became just the second Berks passer to throw for 1,000 yards four straight seasons.
He helped the Raiders set a program scoring record last season, when they averaged 40.2 points.
The Raiders went through a series of coaches in their early years before finding stability with co-head coaches Jerry Wilczynski and Joe Dohmson — the first, and only, co-head coaches in Berks football history.
Twin Valley finished with a winning record in their second season, 2004, and three years later won seven times and the Berks Football League Section 2 title.
Prior to Myers’ arrival Twin Valley was lifted by the duo of Dominic Caruso and Trey Freeman, teammates from 2018-21. Caruso finished with program records of 3,684 rushing yards and 41 touchdowns. Freeman finished with 2,250 career receiving yards, setting a Berks record. (That record was broken in 2022 by Exeter’s Joey Schlaffer.)
