Looking for a list of the best Berks County football players of the past decade? You can start by checking out the ‘Starting Lineup,’ a preseason staple since 2015.

Michal Menet was on the first list; Brandon George and Jerry Kapp followed shortly thereafter. Max Hurleman was added a few years later. Each have spent time in NFL training camps, or on an NFL roster.

Over the years top players such as Isaac and Cooper Lutz, Cam’Ron Stewart, Issac Ruoss, Nick Singleton, J’ven Williams, Cam Jones, Caleb Brewer, and Joey Schlaffer have added their names.

Berks football has produced some outstanding talent over the last decade, sending numerous players on to major college football programs and beyond.

There are many more talented players ready to take the field this season, with the Berks Class of 2026 featuring several potential Division I recruits and another superb group that includes top-shelf juniors, sophomores and freshmen.

To recognize the top players in Berks County football MikeDragoSports.com has selected the “Starting Lineup,” a preseason All-Berks team which includes the top quarterbacks, linemen, running backs, receivers, linebackers, and defensive backs.

This is the 11th anniversary season of Mike Drago’s “Starting Lineup.”

Last year’s dream squad was highlighted by Exeter’s Logan Wegman and Twin Valley’s Aris Drake, each of whom is now at the U.S. Naval Academy, and Exeter’s Jayden Zandier, a two-time All-State pick now at West Chester.

There were three underclassmen on last year’s team, and each is candidate to appear on this year’s list: Drew Engle of Twin Valley and Justice Hardy and Chase Eisenhower, each of Wyomissing.

Players are selected based on their expected performance this season and their college potential. Two-way players are given special consideration. The team will be a mix of linemen and backs, offensive and defensive players.

One player will be introduced each day over the next two weeks, beginning Tuesday.

After the “Starting Lineup” has been announced MikeDragoSports.com will present the “Berks Watch List,” which will include 50 or more other top Berks County players to watch this season.
