State rankings: High-scoring Raiders move up two spots after beatdown of Gratz

Twin Valley moved up two spots in the Class 4A state rankings, to No. 8, after losses by McKeesport and Aliquippa, which had been Nos. 7 and 8, respectively.

The Raiders returned to the Top 10 last week at No. 10, then went out and beat Simon Gratz 67-20. They are averaging 58 points per game, second-highest in the state.

Exeter and Wyomissing each reached 3-0 with victories and maintained their spots in the rankings. Exeter, playing without starting quarterback Riley Martinez, is No. 5 in 5A; Wyomissing is No. 4 in 4A.

The only other Berks team listed in the rankings is Conrad Weiser as a Team to Watch in 5A.

Two other Lancaster-Lebanon League teams are listed as Teams to Watch: Manheim Township in 6A and Lampeter-Strasburg in 4A. The Pioneers opened the season at No. 8.

There was just one major move in the rankings: Riverside, ranked No. 2 in 2A, dropped out of the Top 10 after a 33-23 loss to previously unranked Lakeland.

Exeter and Wyomissing are the highest-ranked teams in their respective classes in District 3.

Southern Columbia, which lost its season-opener to Wyomissing 49-27, has bounced back with a pair of wins and moved up to No. 7 in Class 2A.
