Southern Columbia’s Garrett Garcia named Class 2A Player of the Year

Garrett Garcia, who scored 28 touchdowns to lead Southern Columbia to a seventh straight PIAA Class 2A championship, has been named the Pennsylvania Football Writers’ Class 2A Player of the Year.
Donta Green, who took his Westinghouse team to the PIAA championship game, has been named Coach of the Year.
Garcia rushed for 1,762 yards and averaged 8.3 yards per carry, with eight 100-yard games. The 6-1, 225-pound senior linebacker also recorded 128 tackles, including 24 for loss, as a linebacker.
Westinghouse, the District 8 champ, was unbeaten until falling to Southern 21-20 in the state final.
Southern Columbia had five first-team picks, more than any other team. District 11 champ Bald Eagle and Mount Carmel each had four.
Annville-Cleona defensive back Cael Harter is the only selection from the Lancaster-Lebanon League.
