Six more touchdowns for Nick Singleton in Mifflin rout of Episcopal Academy

Nick Singleton keeps topping himself.

The Gov. Mifflin senior scored six touchdowns for the first time and set a personal rushing record in a 49-26 win over previously unbeaten Episcopal Academy Friday at Newtown Square.

The Mustangs (5-0), the top-ranked team in the state in Class 5A, led 21-0 after one quarter and 42-6 at the half. The Chuchmen fell to 3-1.

Singleton rushed for 289 yards on 18 carries, topping his career-high of 287, set in the season-opener against York High. It ranks as the second-most yards in program history, behind only Dustin Manz’s 352, set in 2006.

Singleton’s six touchdowns — five rushing, one on a kickoff — were also a personal best.

He’s just the third player in program history to score six TDs in a game, following Wilson Fontanez in a 2014 playoff game against Red Lion and Isaac Ruoss in a 2017 game against York High.

Singleton pushed his season total to 1,022 yards, making him the first player in Berks history to rush for 1,000 yards in four straight seasons.

He’s averaging a staggering 13.1 yards per carry.

He scored on runs of 6, 19, 19, 55 and 60 yards, and on an 82-yard kickoff return. He has 22 TDs in five games, and 94 in his career.

Singleton twice previously scored five touchdowns in game, both as a sophomore, against Reading High and against Muhlenberg.

Mifflin rushed for 427 yards on just 34 attempts; it attempted just one pass.

Trey Rock rushed for 82 yards and a TD.

Rock led the defense with 12 tackles, and had a forced fumble.

Eden Johnson had tackles and recovered a fumble.
