Sites finalized for PIAA semifinals; Exeter to host Class 4A game

District 3 Class 4A champ Bishop McDevitt will play Crestwood in a PIAA semifinal Friday at 7 at Exeter’s Don Thomas Stadium.

The Crusaders (11-1) advanced with a 40-0 win over Manheim Central. The District 2 champion Comets (13-1) beat Bonner-Prendergast 21-14 Saturday to reach the semifinals.

The PIAA has published times and site locations for each of its 12 football semifinals on its website.

In Class 6A, District 12 champ St. Joseph’s Prep (11-1) plays District 1 champ Garnet Valley (13-0) Saturday at 1 at the Northeast Super Site in Philadelphia; District 6 champ State College (13-0) has a rematch against District 3 champ Harrisburg (10-2) Saturday at 1 at Altoona. The Little Lions beat the Cougars 20-6 at Harrisburg in Week 8.

In Class 5A, District 3 champ Cocalico (10-4) plays District 7 champ Pine Richland (11-3) Friday at Altoona at 7; District 12 champ Imhotep Charter (9-2) faces District 1 champ Upper Dublin (14-0) Friday at 7 at Wissahickon High School. Cocalico advanced with a 34-14 win over Exeter.

In the other Class 4A semifinal, District 7 champ Aliquippa (12-0) plays District 11 champ Allentown Central Catholic (9-5) Friday at 7 at Bald Eagle High School. Aliquippa beat Central Valley, the two-time defending Class 3A champ, 34-7 Friday. It was the Quips’ second win this season over the Warriors.

In Class 3A, four-time District 3 champ Wyomissing (13-0) plays District 3 champ Neumann Goretti (9-3) Saturday at 1 at the Germantown Super Site in Philadelphia; District 6 champ Central (12-2) meets District 7 champ Belle Vernon (10-2) Friday at 7 at Central Cambria High School.

In Class 2A, District 4 champ Southern Columbia (11-3) faces District 3 champ Trinity (10-4) Friday at 7 at Selinsgrove; District 7 champ Steel Valley (12-0) plays District 8 champ Westinghouse (14-0) Friday at 7 at West Mifflin High School.

In Class 1A, District 3 champ Steel-High (12-1) faces District 4 champ Canton (12-1) Friday at 7 at Shamokin; District 9 champ Port Allegany (12-1) plays District 7 champ Union (12-3) Friday at 7 at PennWest Clarion University.

The PIAA championship games will be Dec. 8, 9 and 10 at Cumberland Valley’s Chapman Field.

The Class 3A championship game is Saturday, Dec. 10 at 1.
